Western companies are obliged to cut costs and enhance performance of their processes. European enterprises cannot compete anymore on workforce costs, but a general objective is maintaining Europe’s leadership and technology excellence in manufacturing.

In this scenario, ICT has been, throughout the years, the crucial enabler for preserving competitiveness and fostering industry innovation. In particular, Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) is a breakthrough research area for ICT in manufacturing and represents the new innovation frontier for matching the EU2020 “smart everywhere” vision.

CPS engineering in manufacturing ensures a competitive advantage for business, market success and jobs creation.

sCorPiuS project investigates the role of CPS as a lever to empower manufacturing performance, proposing the creation of a reliable roadmap which preempts the most important technological trends.

The project purpose is focused on supporting the planning of the Research and Innovation activities with the involvement of the most important European stakeholders.

We are pleased to invite you to the second workshop of the FP7-SMARTER Project. In this workshop we will proudly release the latests results of a project in which the most energy-efficient strategy in manufacturing represents our personal holy grail. This motivation has served as the engine to gather people from different environments to work together and join forces, knowledge and experience in the pursuit of a smarter fashion to use energy in production. Universities, Research Centres, Energy Consultancies and Manufacturers (large and small) have put their bit to develop a system that integrates realtime online energy monitoring, big data analysis and visualization, multivariate analysis, simulations for CNC process chain optimization and virtual manufacturing. An interactive demonstrator of the project will be shown during the workshop to prove the system. 


The workshop includes a networking session for partners in the areas of energy efficiency, manufacturing and industry.
