Disruptive technologies will have a profound impact on the jobs of tomorrow. Education will play a crucial role. Which skills will be needed from a Manufacturing 4.0 workforce? This workshop aims at bringing together technology and education experts from industry, business, and academia in order to present their experiences and propose ambitious, viable, scalable solutions. Speakers are Francesco Derchi, entrepreneur and business coach, Gabriele Pece, data science Pirelli, Jayson Myers, Next Generation Manufacturing, and Barbara Poli, RINA. The event is organized by Global Shapers Genova, an initiative of the World Economic Forum, in collaboration with World Manufacturing Forum and Italian Global Shapers Community.
The Italian Trade Agency (ITA), in collaboration with the WMF, invites executives from foreign manufacturing companies interested in investing or expanding the business in Italy and in networking with the Italian investment promotion agencies, both at the national and regional level. Mr Michele Geraci, Undersecretary of State to the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, will be present at the event. Eight Italian regions will present concrete investment opportunities in several manufacturing sectors. In addition, ITA and Invitalia will present the investment incentives provided by the Italian Government for the entire country and the services to foreign investors. This ConnectedFactories scenario building workshop will provide an insight in the development of the pathways and use cases that illustrate the current state of digitalisation along the pathways. The workshop aims to evaluate and validate the pathways and identify use cases and possible innovation strategies to support the digitalisation of the industry.
The ConnectedFactories project explores pathways to the digital integration and interoperability of manufacturing systems and processes and the benefits this will bring. Hence, ConnectedFactories will enhance the awareness among companies of the use of digital technologies in the manufacturing industry and provide them with knowledge to make informed decisions regarding technology and business model choices to reinforce the European manufacturing industries’ position in the international scene.

Discover the places where things get made.
On 29 September 2018 the City of Milan, in collaboration with the World Manufacturing Forum, organises the first edition of MANIFATTURE APERTE: a day of guided tours, workshops and meetings to discover the places of industry, craftsmanship and technology 4.0 in and around Milan. For one day, factories, workshops, labs, academies, studios and makerspaces will open their doors to the public. The event is part of Manifattura Milano, the City of Milan’s programme to promote industry in the city.
The event is a moment of aggregation and debate on issues related to business development and innovation, with a focus on the challenges and opportunities for the new cultural and industrial revolution linked to digital transformation and Industry 4.0.
The event will open with a plenary session with the participation of key-note speakers and local and non-local entrepreneurs. In the afternoon, after a networking lunch, there will be different workshops on specific issues, coordinated by experts and professionals of each sector.
