Mark Carlisle has supported the U.S. Intelligent Manufacturing Systems delegation as its Secretariat since 2011. He works at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), arriving there after a 20-year career in the U.S. Air Force, and joined NIST’s Systems Integration for Manufacturing Applications program office. There he tracked and reported the progress of research for improvement of information exchange and interface protocols that support interoperability in manufacturing systems, and he managed the Advanced Manufacturing Systems & Networking Testbed facility. Now a member of the Systems Integration Division, he manages research contracts, edits technical research papers, and plans and executes events such as NIST’s long-running Model-Based Enterprise Summit. His work only occasionally keeps him from his hobby of aviation photography.
