Jürgen Tiedje, working with the European Commission since 1992; German nationality; lawyer as educational background, wide experience in different Commission departments of European policy making, including industry, services and financial services, in the last years. He joined DG Research and Innovation in the Commission in January 2017. He works as a Head of Unit for industrial technologies.
The unit focus on managing and funding around 260 research projects under Horizon 2020 with a particular focus on advanced manufacturing processes, including biotechnology. The unit also coordinates all the work around so-called contractual Public Private Partnerships (cPPPs) within the Commission.
